Mogale City Unveils Redeveloped Civic Centre Precinct, Marking Milestone in Urban Regeneration

Mogale City Local Municipality will officially unveil its redeveloped Civic Centre Precinct on Friday, 23 October 2026, at 10h00, at the corner of Market and Commissioner Streets in Krugersdorp. The unveiling marks a significant milestone in the municipality’s urban regeneration programme and the first completed development initiative identified in the Krugersdorp Precinct Plan.

The event will be hosted by Mogale City Executive Mayor Lucky Sele, alongside Members of the Mayoral Committee. Minister of Finance Enoch Godongwana, Gauteng Premier Panyaza Lesufi and Gauteng MEC for Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs Jacob Mamabolo are expected to attend.

The redevelopment forms part of a broader vision to revitalise the Krugersdorp Central Business District (CBD), improve access to municipal services and create a more accessible, efficient and people-centred urban environment.

The project includes the modernisation and expansion of the Civic Centre to establish a consolidated municipal services hub, making it easier for residents to access essential services while improving municipal operational efficiency. By bringing municipal offices and services together, the development will also reduce the municipality’s reliance on rented office space, delivering potential long-term cost savings.

As the first major precinct development to reach completion, the project represents an important step towards transforming the Krugersdorp CBD into a vibrant, economically competitive and sustainable urban centre. The broader regeneration initiative aims to attract investment, stimulate economic activity and enhance the quality of life for residents.

The unveiling will showcase the transformation of this strategic municipal asset and provide an opportunity for members of the media to engage with municipal leadership on the broader vision for revitalising Krugersdorp’s inner city and creating a thriving urban environment for residents, businesses and visitors.
