MIRTH AND MUSIC AT RENDEZVOUS AT THE STATE THEATRE
Audiences are in for a real treat this month at the South African State Theatre (SAST) in Pretoria with full on entertainment.
SAST in association with TMI will proudly present Jazz and African Music Nights featuring some of South Africa’s most prolific musicians including: Renowned jazz artists Wanda Baloyi and Mathunzi Macdonald on 13 May; the highly talented duo Dave & Pops and Gally Ngoveni on 20 May; and ending with jazz greats The Zenzi Lee Makeba Band Trio and Mandla Ntlaks on 27 May. The performances will begin at 8pm on the respective evenings.
For two evenings of great wit, satire and other laugh-out-loud shenanigans, the SAST in association with Premium Comedy proudly presents the Tshwane Comedy Nights featuring a line-up of South Africa’s funniest comedians. On 14 May Trevor Gumbi will have audiences rolling in the isles along with the comedic talents of Isuru Jinasena, Teboho Theowa and Gavin Kelly. Then, Dillan Oliphant will liven up the house on 28 May with a mixed ‘gag’ of comedians including Suhayl Issa, Mum-Z Mokwena and Stig Dlamini. Each will be presenting their own acts on the respective evenings.
“We have a diverse comedic programme and the comedians performing in May promise to have audiences in stitches as they bring their unique flavours to the Rendezvous stage,” says Sekhabi. “There is nothing quite like a good dose of humour to connect people and make light of everyday situations of which South Africa has many.”
Tickets for both the Jazz and African Music Nights and Tshwane Comedy Nights are R100 at the door. For more information visit www.statetheatre.co.za.
