British Airways flies The Legends flag at Zando Cape Town 10’s
British Airways (operated by Comair) is the official travel sponsor for the Zando Cape Town 10’s. The airline will fly all Stor-Age Invitational “rugby legends” taking part in the tournament to Cape Town, making sure they are refreshed and energised to create a memorable rugby showdown at the Hamilton Rugby Club in Green Point from 2 to 3 February.
The airline will fly some of the South Africa’s rugby heroes such as Stefan Terblanche, Danie Gerber, Garreth “Soldier Boy” McLellan, Krynauw Otto and others to the event where they will battle it out with their teams on the field of ‘Hammies,’ the country’s oldest rugby club.
Luane Lavery, Brand Communications Manager for British Airways (operated by Comair) says, “Being a legend in the South African airline industry for over 21 years, we pride ourselves on delivering an exceptional experience to all our customers, so it’s an honour to support the tournament by taking care of the travel arrangements of all of the legends taking part in the tournament.
“Without hard-fought battles on the field our country would not have its rich rugby and sporting culture. That’s why we chose to support the two-day festival.”
Started by rugby legends, Bob Skinstad and Robbie Fleck, the event has previously attracted some of the world’s greatest players including Jonah Lomu, Carlos Spencer, Tana Umaga and Christian Cullen, as well as other local heroes such as Percy Montgomery, Corné Krige, Bryan Habana and James Dalton.
The event started out as purely a ten-a-side rugby tournament and has evolved into a social, sport and lifestyle phenomenon, which attracts thousands of players and supporters annually. In 2018 the multi-faceted sport event will include 10-a-side Rugby, Netball, Dodgeball, 5-a-side Football, Hockey, Beach Volleyball and a Fittest in Cape Town competition.
With the event set to kick off in a couple of days, team entries are closed. Tickets can be purchased at www.capetown10s.co.za
Lavery says, “This year’s event will also host artists like GoodLuck, Sketchy Bongo, Francois van Coke and UK Band, the Light Years, to mention a few.”
